If you have recurring urinary tract infection symptoms (UTI), UroPrime® Self-Start Therapy may be a solution for you. UroPrime is a simple 3-step program designed by Urology of Indiana to provide a cost-effective, quick and efficient solution for managing UTI problems. Our dedicated care team facilitates quick access and communication.
Step 1: If you’re experiencing recurring UTI symptoms, call us at 877-362-2778 to schedule an appointment with one of our providers.
Step 2: If our provider determines that you are a UroPrime candidate, you will be referred to the UroPrime Team for enrollment. If you choose to enroll, we will mail you a kit that contains analgesics, a mail-in culture cup, antiseptic towelettes, educational materials, a supply of “antibiotics in waiting” and a Federal Express box. We will also call your pharmacy with an initial antibiotic prescription enabling you to begin treatment immediately.
Step 3: Once you receive your kit, follow the instructions to collect a specimen, enclose it in the provided Federal Express box and drop off at any Fed Ex drop-off point. Fed Ex can also pick up from your home. Results should be available within 24-48 hours. View our video that explains UroPrime.
What Is a Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?
UTI symptoms can include burning with urination, suprapubic pain, urinary frequency and sometimes fever. They are associated with a positive urine culture (usually bacteria such as E. coli Pseudomonas, Proteus, etc.).
The diagnosis of a recurrent UTI takes place when a patient has numerous recurring culture-documented UTIs. This is different than a patient with bacteria in their urine without symptoms – which is called asymptomatic bacteriuria. This condition does not require treatment.
Guidance Urine Testing For Recurrent UTI
We use the Guidance urine test for recurrent UTIs. This is a unique rapid molecular urine test for both pathogen identification and antibiotic sensitivity. It uses advanced technologies to identify pathogens commonly associated with persistent UTIs. Standard urine culture testing often fails to detect the pathogens responsible for urinary symptoms.
