Symptoms and Causes
The most common symptoms of epididymitis include testicular pain and swelling. The pain or swelling may be mild or severe. The pain is usually severe and develops suddenly in the scrotum and may spread along the spermatic cord. It generally begins in the vas deferens and descends to the lower pole of the epididymis. Accompanying the painful scrotal swelling may be cloudy urine, fevor, and tenderness over the groin or in the lower abdominal area on the affected side. The diagnosis for epididymitis can be established by finding tubercle bacilli in cultures of the urine or prostatic fluid, or swelling and firmness of the epididymis.
